35 week update

As of last week's ultrasound and doctor's appointment Anna Laine weighs nearly 5 1/2 pounds and is practicing her breathing in utero...all good signs that if she decides to come before the scheduled delivery date of September 19th things should be okay. Obviously her mother appears "more than ready" for her arrival, but I can certainly tough it out for another few weeks to make sure she's as healthy as can be when she gets here. I've decided this will be the last of the profile pics since James has already made the observation that I remind him of the photos of Kate from the TV show "Jon and Kate Plus 8" when she was carrying sextuplets...gotta love him! Anyway, I'm feeling much more confident that everything we've been doing all along (the bed rest, shots, medications, etc.) have all done their job and have kept her from coming way to early like she kept threatening to early on. Thanks so much to all our family and friends who have taken care of Addi and Jake, brought food, prayed for us, etc. It means the world to all of us and Anna is one lucky little girl to be born with so many people loving her so much already! Since I'm slacking off on a lot of the meds now the doctors say it really could be anytime so stayed tuned for pictures of our baby girl sometime in the next few weeks!

Emily's had my camera again...

Why is it that any time Emily comes over and gets a hold of my camera I end up with a bunch of goofy photos of my kids? Oh well...she's doing better than I am at the moment of taking pictures of them so I'll take what I can get! :)

Addison - Fun Friday at School!

Mrs. Mitchell sent me this picture this afternoon...looks like Addi had a great day at school! :)

Addison Kate is 5 years old!!!

First thing this morning Addison wanted her daddy to "weigh" her on the wall in the garage...of course she was talking about measuring her and marking her height instead. She thought she had grown overnight since she was now 5 years old!
Here she is enjoying chocolate cupcakes with her class at school...so far a great birthday and there's plenty more to come!

Where's Jake???

Jake decided to play a game of hide and go seek this morning only he didn't let me know about it. I couldn't find the little stinker anywhere even though I kept calling his name and looking in every room/closet I could think of. I missed the tiny little space in the laundry room between the dryer and the sink so after a few minutes of panic I finally found him sitting on the edge of the hamper with the biggest smile on his face. He thought he was too cute and unfortunately he just is...makes it really hard sometimes! :)

Addison's First Day of Kindergarten

Tuesday was the big day...Addi started Kindergarten at a brand new school...Heartland Elementary! She was really excited and her Mommy and Daddy were very proud of her.
And how lucky a little girl is she to have Mrs. Mitchell as her teacher! Gena has been a great friend of ours forever and her husband Doug is one of the associate ministers at our church (they were even out in the waiting room when Addi was born) so it definitely made the whole transition of starting to school much easier on all of us.
I had to be one of "those parents" and stick around for a couple minutes outside the door to take a picture or two...
Her first day was a success...she was not all that informative when she got home, but she did say that she had a good day, met some nice friends, didn't have time to eat all of her lunch (she's so pokey!), and the funniest thing was "nap time" when they had them lay their heads down on the table and use their beach towels either for a pillow or to cover up with...she just thought that was hilarious. It was an adjustment for all of us, but I think we all handled it just fine. The hardest part? Getting up so early!

Jake's First Day of "Preschool"

Jake started the two year old program at Grace Heartland this week...he's going to go two mornings a week (maybe more up until the baby comes). He gets to take his new Mickey lunchbox that Grammy got for him and had a great first day. He cried a little when we dropped him off, but his teacher said that he dried up in about 2 minutes and had a great time playing all morning! Doesn't he look like a big boy walking in with his backpack on!

James' Birthday

Well even though James had decided not to recognize his birthday this year (we won't mention the exact number of birthday it was) he did end up having a pretty fun and festive day anyway. We went swimming at the Burns pool along with lots of friends "and loved ones - Jennie, that's you!" :) Ms. Gwen treated us to pizza by the pool and then at home Jake, Addi, and the Jones kids made a yummy chocolate birthday cake that they also decorated quite nicely. So, the August birthdays have begun in the family...only about 5 or 6 more to go this month...but Addi is probably the most excited of any of us...she'll be 5 on Friday!

Jakes LOVES Sable!

Jake loves riding so much that I am definitely thinking that the boy is definitely going to need a cowboy hat and some boots in the near future...I guess that would look a little more official than the barefoot riding he was doing the other night.
