How sweet are they???

Okay, maybe I'm just a softie, but last night Addison wanted to help put her little brother to bed and read his bible stories to him. It was just too cute not to take a picture of!

Puddle-jumpers...

Last night while James went to pick up our "home-cooked" meal from Cracker Barrel the kids decided they wanted to play outside. Since it was still like 98 degrees even at 7:00 at night I thought I would spray them with the water hose while sitting with my feet up on the park bench. I finally had had enough of getting sprayed myself (the wind kept blowing the water back onto me instead of just them) I turned the water off and told them to jump in the puddles instead. Well, I'm sure you've heard it said before..."It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt." That was certainly the case last night...as you can see both kids are happily jumping in puddles and laughing and playing and then next thing I knew Addison tripped over the hose skinned her knee and her big toe which made our lovely summer evening of splashing fun go from happy to complete hysterics and lots of tears in a matter of seconds. Oh well...some pancakes and an ice pack seem to have taken care of the worst of it, but she'll have another scraped up knee and didn't even get it sliding into 1st base this time! :)

30 Weeks and Nursery Pics

Yesterday I officially reached the 30 week mark in this pregnancy. It is certainly a good feeling to have gotten this far, but we're really hoping for at least 4-6 more weeks to go! Tomorrow I go back to the doctor for another ultrasound to check and see how things are progressing and to check how much Miss Anna weighs now. I'm guessing around 3 to 3 1/2 pounds right now. She was 2 lb. 7 oz. at the last one.
Her room is now ready (except for the curtains that Mom almost has finished - Addison keeps asking Grammy when she's gonna hang those curtains up which obviously makes Mom think I'm putting her up to it, but really I'm not...I promise!) and her clothes are all washed and ready to go. Bama brought over 3 choices for her coming home outfit...one in each size (preemie, newborn, and 3 months)...that Karen is always prepared! :) And Addi and I bought newborn diapers while shopping for her school supplies at Target the other day. She and Jake just think those teensy, tiny diapers are the cutest thing ever.
So, here are some pictures of the nursery and of me (and Anna) standing by her crib. We took a picture like this of me standing by the crib the morning before Addison was born and then with Jake's "surprise" arrival we didn't get it done until he was 5 weeks old and home from the hospital so we decided to play it safe and go ahead and take the picture yesterday after church.

Granddad's Birthday

Jake and Emmy's Silly Photo Shoot - by Addi

Poptarts on the piano bench...

This is what it's come to...with Mommy on modified bed rest and two kids who love "snacks" I just gave up one day and let them both eat their pop tarts in the living room with me. The good news is that Addi and Jake are both getting very handy with the Swivel Sweeper and can clean up the crumbs themselves! :)

Fun on the 4th (actually 5th) of July

We had a great time at Uncle George and Aunt Jennie's for a cookout, homeade ice cream, and fireworks this year. The kiddos had lots of fun playing with Connor and Will and got to do sparklers. We had to go home before the fireworks over the lake because Jake was too tired and wanted to go to bed, but Mommy and Daddy and Addi stayed up for them and watched from our driveway and even though there were some pretty loud booms and bangs Jake slept right through!

Softball Tourney and Trophies

Addi's team, the Heartbreakers, finished out the season 2nd in the league for regular season play and placed 2nd in the end of season league tournament, so...she ended up with her very 1st and 2nd trophies this year - one for each thing. Yes, we realize that it's quite ridiculous for a 4 year old to get 2 trophies in one night, but she was thrilled and was very proud of them. If you'd like to hear the story of when her Granddaddy got his first trophy I'm sure he would be glad to share it as we've heard it a few times over the past couple weeks...let's just say he wasn't 4 years old! :)

Jake's turn riding with Mandy...

After an afternoon of swimming at Aunt Gale's with Daddy the kids got to go out to Aunt Judy's to ride horses. Unfortunately Mommy and Daddy had to miss out on it because we had to take another trip to the hospital in Louisville, but after another shot and some monitoring Miss Anna Laine seems to be staying put for a while longer.
